Brisbane's Chi Chi Groove Crew was established in 1992 by Jon Adams of Chi Chi Deluxe as a vehicle for his multi-media works. Combining dance, theatre, acrobatics, circus performers and lush models, the troupe earned a reputation for their highly-charged, upfront, and sexy dance routines that pushed the boundaries of public performance. "The Groove Crew was all about cutting loose, being physical and having the confidence to get out there and strut your stuff," said Jon Adams who directed the shows with choreographer Jonathon Cameron Smith.

During the life of the troupe more than 180 people contributed to the Chi Chi shows - either as performers, models, stylists, make-up artists or DJ's.
